1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup organic or raw sugar
Pinch of salt
2 ounces dairy-free chocolate, optional
4 cups almond milk*
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Blend cocoa powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt, and set aside. In a medium pot, heat 4 cups of almond milk, plus vanilla extract, for about 5-7 minutes on low. Stir in hot cocoa powder mixture, then optional chocolate, and heat an additional 5-7 minutes or to desired temperature. Optional: Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
Note: Make sure to choose a brand of almond milk that is vegan; some almond milk may include unspecified natural flavors. Check the label carefully.
