Italian-Style Stuffed Long Hots

1 cup ground sweet Italian sausage
4 Italian long hot peppers
2 ounces sharp provolone, shredded
1/3 cup high-quality tomato sauce
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella

In a pan, cook ground sausage on medium-low heat 8-10 minutes or until cooked through. While sausage cooks, slice long hots lengthwise in half, and remove the seeds and white membrane.

One sausage is cooked, let it cool 5 minutes, then add shredded provolone to the pan, and mix to combine. Finally, add tomato sauce. Take sausage mixture and stuff each long hot. Air fry at 350 for 10 minutes. Remove, then add shredded mozzarella to the tops of each pepper, and cook an additional 3 minutes in the air fryer.

Five-Ingredient Tip: For even more tender peppers, air fry the peppers on their own for 3-5 minutes at 350 before stuffing them.
