Makes 6 sliders
Ingredients:
8 ounces 85% lean ground beef (use leaner beef for a healthier option)
Salt and pepper, plus any other desired seasonings
6 slices American cheese
6 slider buns
Store-bought chipotle mayo, for topping
1/2 cup chopped sweet onion, plus oil for sautéing
Directions:
Add onions and a splash of oil to a large pan, and heat the onions on medium-low for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently to ensure they don’t burn. While the onions cook, season the ground beef as desired, then shape the beef into balls that are a little less than two inches in diameter.
Once the onions are cooked, remove them from the pan, and set them aside. Add three of the burger balls to the pan, and using a burger press or sturdy spatula, flatten them as much as possible. Let them cook on medium heat for about 3 minutes on one side and 2 minutes on the other. Once you flip the burgers, top them with cheese.
